ah, whats new? i had a birthday, which i always consider to be big fun. every birthday above ground is a good one. bring 'em on.
The Baby is still not here. i was certain the child would be a gemini like its papa and auntie, but this kid may be holding out to be a cancer. little whippersnapper.
went to see david sedaris again. honestly, this was probably my least favorite performance of his, but that doesnt mean it still wasnt worth the trip. he read two stories from the new book and some of his diary entries. Cousin, Hairbear and I bought books there to get them signed after the show (cos he'd only sign books bought from left bank books ) but the line after the show was (cover your ears, you clean living non-swearers!) a collosal clusterf*ck and we ended up just sending Cousin thru the line with all 3 of our books. (see, when you bought a book you got a number that placed you in line...we bought our books at the same time. Cousin got 78. i got 160, and Hairbear got 161. the hell?) david is so gracious...he was speaking with everyone who went thru the line, which is so kind. however, it meant the line went really slow, and folks were being rude by standing there gib-gabbing with david when they knew damn well they should keep it short and keep things moving. hmph.
anyway, the new book is good. id say its as good as Naked or Me Talk Pretty...as part of my birthday, i bought myself davids cd set and the cd's of the new book. 2 stories in the new book stand out in my mind; rooster at the hitchin post and baby einstein. both about his brother, and both made me laugh out loud.
i go to new orleans in about a month, and i can hardly wait, even though its going to be *hot* (as it mentions on practically every page in my borrowed copy of The Idiots Guide to New Orleans)
reagan died...dont know if you heard (please pick up the sarcasm...i'm throwing it down quite liberally). i pretty much stuck with online news and The Daily Show for a week. anyone who still thinks the media is overtly liberal after witnessing the "revisionist history reagan lovefest" that was last week is kidding themselves. i wasnt a fan when he was in office...not a fan now.
more later (hopefully in less than a month) i'll for sure post when The Baby bothers to make an appearance :)
