We're Going on a Roadtrip
I know I've been a bad blogger, but I've had stuff to do! Honest! I'd tell you all about it but its coma-inducing boring. I like all 4 of my readers. I don't want any one of you to be harmed reading this blog.School stuff: School will be over the last week of April. Hooray! I don't have horrible amounts of work to finish; a small paper, an interview, some transcribing and a group project. If I could just get any of it finished it would be a big help. If anyone has any actual helpful hints regarding overcoming procrastination then by all means share. I went on a field trip last week for the group project (took a vacation day...the bummer was that I was dangerously close to my dear cousin Musicgeek, but was with a group and didn't have one spare minute to go see her. Boo! Sorry MG!), then went to a conference this week for school (thats two more vacation days). Some fun vacation, eh?! The conference was in one of my least favorite cities in my beloved home state. Lets just call it Scumoria. I actually have relatives around Scumoria, but I didn't call and tell them I was in town because...well, I don't like them. Nuff said.
The conference was all about preventing alcohol and substance abuse in college kids. The college kids I was with could not get to a bar fast enough once the first day of the conference was over. However, it needs to be pointed out that the conference attendees, speakers, and organizers beat them out of the hotel. A small group of the children stayed out all night and even visited the strip club next door to our hotel (It was Scumoria, people. Don't be surprised.). It should also be noted that one of the keynote speakers and one of the conference organizers were there. In the strip club. Drunk. At 4am. Classy! And such a great way to model appropriate, responsible drinking.
I went out with them for awhile and while it was fun I just felt very consciously old, relative to 22-25 year olds anyway. I monitored my drinking and just had a few beers since thats what I started with (which was annoying since we went to a fun little bar after dinner that made tasty girlie martinis, but I didn't want a headache so I stuck with beer.) I was happy to leave around 11 (my latest bedtime, for God's sake). I kind of like being old. I like not drinking so much I do something stupid and feel like an ass the next day. Dare I say it? I like being boring. And I'm so glad I didn't end up at a strip club. I'd probably still be bathing in bleach if I had. I'm not that prissy, I just don't think I'd trust that the hygeine level of a strip club would meet sanitary standards. Those girls don't wear drawers, ya'll!
Work: I have my oodles of vacation days to take, so I'm taking them. However, I still have work to do. Yikes.
Misc: I'm going on a roadtrip tomorrow with Needlefingers! We are going to a Fest of Fiber over in a neighboring state. Before we get there we're hitting the hydromassage place and an Olive Garden. Do we know how to party or what? Heh! Needles is going to teach me how to knit socks. And we're going to dye yarn with indigo! Or we're going to dye yarn indigo. Hell, I don't know. We're gonna turn some yarn blue.
Next week I'm flying to see M&T and the babies. I haven't seen them since this time last year so I'm really looking forward to it. Please pray though that our shady weather is nice next Wednesday and the following Monday. Traveling ramps up my already anxious nature and bad weather only makes it worse.

What a bummer that you were close by and couldn't stop in and see me...or at least do a pub crawl(There's the bus! It went that way!) to get an old woman out of the house!
I'm glad you survived Scumoria with all of the impressionable children. It is nice to wake up the next day feeling good about the fact that you didn't do any spontaneous pole or lap dancing the night before.
Welcome to the ranks of the boring, although rest assured, im my mind you'll always be young and hip!!!
Hygeine and strip clubs are not synonymous, so I understand the bleaching reference.
As for procrastination, in the words of Ann Lamott: bird by bird. That's all I got. (Being a fellow procrastinator and all.)
Have a wonderful trip and dye lots of stuff.
Hi Jennifer, Kristi sent me over. It was fun meeting you even if we didn't get a chance to chat. Hope you had a great time at Greencastle.
