My own personal Santa Claus...

happens to be me.

The reason I overspend at Christmas isn't because I go overboard on other people. Its because my personal philosophy of Christmas shopping is this: One for you, one for me. Saturday I made a big fat Amazon buy which consisted of presents for my lovely family. Until I 'got to thinkin' (as we say in my neck of the woods) and suddenly decided that "since I'm ordering anyway..." I should buy a little something for myself. So a completely reasonable order turned into a little retail therapy session for Jennifer. Wanna know what I bought? Sure you do!

Scarf Style - I think this book has a pattern in it that Rock Chick at Purl Jam made once. Verra pretty green scarf that is a leafy type pattern.

Strangers With Candy Season 3 - Why did Comedy Central ever cancel this show? Its twisted and dirty and disturbing and it makes me laugh hysterically.

I didn't do too bad at Amazon. But then I 'got to thinkin' (see? thinkin never leads to anything but trouble) that my brother had mentioned he was going 'off list' for my Christmas present. I had asked him for the first two seasons of the funniest show on television right now, Arrested Development. Since part of my Christmas break plans include "Watch Arrested Development nonstop. Pee pants laughing." I realized I needed to just get them myself. The best price I could find was at buy.com, if anyone else is interested.

So by the time Sunday rolled around I decided that I needed a refill on my foundation from Sephora. I generally avoid Sephora like the plague. I have an irrational love of all cosmetics, but especially the overpriced ones. If I spend more it will make me prettier, right? Here's the damage, unlinked because a) I'm lazy, and 2) If you want to know how much I spent, then you're going to have to look it all up yourself:

Juice Beauty Lip Trio SPF 15 - Lip Trio
Bare Escentuals i.d. bareMinerals Foundation - SPF 15 Sunscreen
Stila A Glazed Affair Mini Lip Glaze Set
Philosophy Kiss Me
Samples - L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream
Samples - Kinerase Cream
Samples - Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette
Sephora Collection Deluxe Sample Collection

I should be getting a boatload of samples. I might faint from joy when I get this package.

Ooh, ooh, I've always wanted to get some of that bareMinerals foundation. Does it last a pretty long time?

A little retail therapy is good for the soul. Anyway, as far as I can tell, you just bought the essentials.

It lasts forever. I originally bought it in May, and I'm not completely out yet. I really have enough left to last a few weeks. And I use the kabuki brush to try to glom on as much as possible. I like it because liquid foundation pools up on my oil slick skin. Sexy!

You can go to the actual store at the Galleria. Lucky!

Sephora is serious about returns too, if you want to go that route. If you hate something, just send it back and get a refund.

Buying presents for yourself is like saying, "Hey, you are a pretty cool person and you deserve an amazon bounty." No one else is gonna say that to you, so be kind to yourself.
