Work and School and Knitting, Oh My!

Work: The training day I planned (with tons and tons of help from my co-workers) went off without a hitch last Thurs. It was kind of fun, in retrospect, but I'm glad its over. I'm a little sad we'll be gone next year and we won't be able to do another.

School: Starts tonight. Damn! Brother asked me if I was excited about school. I told him I wasn't so much excited as resigned, which he agreed was really all I could shoot for. Brother understands.

Knitting: The tote has been finished since New Years. I spent the night at Needles and Rambling's house on New Years, and had a lovely time. We noshed, knitted, and watched I Love the 80's on VH1. Good Times! I didn't really do much in the felting process, other than watch Needlefingers try to pull the felted tote into some kind of shape. Its...ok. Had I not had someone beating the tote into submission, I think it would be way funky shaped. The pattern was ok but had some issues. The bottom of the tote was supposed to be loosely sewn, which both Needles and I agreed sounded like crap. So Needles generously crocheted the bottom so it would be sturdy. Its good to have a knitting guru! Here are some snaps of tote, pre and post felt.

Pre-Felt:

Post Felt, in all its lumpy felted goodness:

Blocking method ala McGyver! (otherwise known as Ramblin )

And finally, in its felted, blocked pulled into submission state:Wasn't Mr FuzzyBritches so kind to provide some scale in each of the pictures taken on the ground. (which is is turf, so its only fair).

The tote is OK. I don't know if i'll bother making another one. Now that its done I'm kind of underwhelmed by it.

I've started on a little lightweight throw, which I'll post pictures of later.

Oh, you will use it. I am sure of it. You will be the fanciest girl on campus!

What don't you like about it?

Ooh, is the pink sparkly? You know how I like shiny, sparkly things! Me like! My bastardized "booger bag" is just boring old black with a few non-sparkly (damn!)hot pink stripes thrown in. I hope it looks better when it's finished.
