Oh Fuuuuudge
Good God, next Xmas break I'm going to fat camp. I woke up this morning actually intent on not eating like someone preparing for famine, and I'll be damned if my Mama wasn't already in the kitchen making candy. She made chocolate covered peanuts, peanut brittle, and (my favorite) fudge. I'm half of a mind to just give up and eat every damn thing I want. I never seem to be able to meet a goal, so maybe if I actually plan to gain 50 lbs I won't. Or perhaps I'll just get super extra fat. Probably the latter.I was industrious today. Did some serious cleaning of my bedroom, organized my yarn, organized my CDs, cleaned and swept out my car, did a couple of loads of laundry, and got a few more inches done on the tote. Here's what I've got so far:
for scale, note the Bruce Springsteen CD off to the right. A rough count of the rows has me over halfway to the festive novelty yarn part, which I realized this evening I have to purl. Curses! I have to purl 4 strands of yarn together for about 5 inches. Ugh! Doesn't it look like a weird skirt so far?In celebration of the holiday season, tomorrow I'm going to deliver a Xmas gift to one of my favorite people ever. She's 90, and she's always sent me and my brother $5 on our birthday and Christmas. She still does! Since she's been on a fixed income for a long time, that $5 means a lot. She lives in the old folks apartments, so I got her a roll of quarters for the laundry and a gift certificate to her favorite little restaurant.
After that, I'm going to come home and play Christmas movies all day. A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, and Elf are the standards. For fun, I got the unrated version of Bad Santa from Netflix, so I'm going to watch it too. I haven't seen it yet, but I cant imagine it wont be my kind of Christmas movie (please note that Its a Wonderful Life isn't anywhere on my list. Its a beautiful movie, but I'd rather my Xmas movies make me laugh or be a little dirty). However, If i get sappy I might watch the cartoon Nestor the Long Eared Donkey. Ever heard of it? I saw it as a kid, and I've always loved it. Its about this pitiful little orphaned donkey who grows up to be the donkey that carries Mary to Bethlehem. Its total schmaltz. I blubber ever time I watch it.

Wow! the bag is really coming along. I am so impressed.
What a great note about your friend, and her gifts are ever so appropriate.
Enjoy your movie-a-thon.
You've got a tough job trying to stay on a diet with Aunt Ruth's good cooking. I'd just give up now if I were you.
Hope your little old lady friend is doing well. She sounds like a sweetheart.
Merry Christmas!!!
